TrueAllele analyzes firearm evidence in shooting

Crime In the early morning on January 27, 2014, Boston Police responded to gunshots fired. They found two people dead at the scene. Prosecutors charged three suspects for the crime.
Evidence Investigators collected a firearm as evidence.
DNA The Boston Police Department Crime Laboratory swabbed the grip and trigger of the gun and butt of the magazine, generating DNA data from the swab.
Match Due to the low amount of DNA, the crime was unable to draw any conclusions regarding suspect Lorenzo Jones as being a contributor to the mixture.
TrueAllele The TrueAllele computer linked the gun to suspect Jones with a match statistic of 50 thousand. The error rate for this match statistic is 1 in 618 thousand.
Cybergenetics    On February 10, 2023, Cybergenetics analyst Jennifer Bracamontes testified before a Boston jury about the TrueAllele DNA results.
Outcome On February 23, 2023, the jury found Lorenzo Jones not guilty of murder, but found him guilty of a weapons charge.
