Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v Henry Little-Proctor and Rashawn Walker
Shooting in McKeesport kills pregnant mother of five
Crime | 25-year old Susan Sidney was pregnant with her 6th child when she was found dead on January 27, 2014. She had been fatally shot. |
Evidence | A witness was pulled over two days after the shooting. The murder weapon and three other pistols were in his possession. |
DNA | The Allegheny crime lab developed DNA mixture data from four different pistols. |
Match | Due to the complexity of the DNA mixture, the lab was unable to produce a match statistic using manual methods of DNA interpretation. |
TrueAllele | On the same data, the computer connected Walker to the murder weapon with a match statistic of 245 trillion. Proctor matched a pistol found with the murder weapon with a statistic of 243 billion. The key witness was also matched to the murder weapon. |
Cybergenetics | On September 25, 2015, Dr. Mark Perlin testified at a trial in Allegheny county. |
Outcome | Due to discrepancies in the witness’s story, the jury did not trust his testimony against the defendants. Both Henry Little-Proctor and Rashawn Walker were found not guilty. |
