Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v Tyrell Christian
Homicide: TrueAllele results presented in York County Courthouse
Crime | On September 27, 2022 Ethan Mooney was found unresponsive on the street with gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital. |
Evidence | Five spent 9mm cartridge casings were collected from the scene. A handgun was found at a later date. |
DNA | The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Forensic Services generated informative DNA data from the evidence items. |
Match | The crime lab concluded that the cartridge data was uninterpretable due to an insufficient quantity of data. The handgun data could not be interpreted due to the complexity of the mixtures. |
TrueAllele | TrueAllele was able to interpret the data. When compared with Tyrell Christian the exclusionary match statistic was one over 4.17 thousand. |
Cybergenetics | On October 2, 2024, Cybergenetics analyst Kari Danser testified before a York County jury about the TrueAllele DNA results. |
Outcome | Tyrell Christian was found guilty of first-degree murder and possession of a prohibited firearm. |
