Pennsylvania man held for trial after Cybergenetics presents TrueAllele DNA match at homicide hearing
Pittsburgh, PA
Following a hearing in municipal court, District Judge Anthony Saveikis ordered Mr. James Yeckel, Jr. held on two counts of homicide for the slaying of his parents James Yeckel and Carol Ann Yeckel. Cybergenetics Dr. Mark Perlin testified about TrueAllele® DNA results, showing that a match between a shotgun shell found at the crime scene and Mr. Yeckel, Jr. was at least a billion times more probable than coincidence. Allegheny County Deputy District Attorney Mark Tranquilli said afterwards that "the county police, Dr. Perlin and the DA's office working together were able to bring some closure to this family."
