State of Tennessee v. Demontrey Logsdon

Robbery in bar parking lot ends in double homicide

Crime In the early morning of August 17, 2018, a group of four friends was robbed by masked and armed suspects in the parking lot of a Nashville bar, The Cobra. This crime ended in the deaths of Jaime Sarrantonio and Bartley Brandon Teal.
Evidence A vehicle, firearms, and the victim’s clothing were recovered as evidence after the crime.
DNA The Metro Nashville Police Department Crime Lab produced DNA data from the evidence items.
Match Using manual interpretation and thresholds, the crime lab was unable to make comparisons for some items due to limited data or the complexity of the DNA mixtures. For other items, the lab concluded that minor contributors were inconclusive, or gave limited inclusionary match statistics at only a handful of DNA locations.
TrueAllele TrueAllele connected the vehicle swabs to defendant Demontrey Logsdon with match statistics ranging from the quadrillions (1 followed by 15 zeroes) to the septillions (1 followed by 24 zeroes). The computer also linked two firearms to Mr. Logsdon with match statistics ranging from 2.46 thousand to 962 million. TrueAllele also calculated inclusionary match statistics between two of the victim’s jeans pockets and the defendant with match statistics of 21.2 thousand and 108.
Cybergenetics    On February 8, 2024, Cybergenetics analyst Jennifer Bracamontes testified before a Davidson County jury about the TrueAllele DNA results.
Outcome On February 12, 2024, the jury returned a guilty verdict on all 13 charges against Mr. Logsdon. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
