Human Trafficking: Evidence analyzed in sex trafficking case

Crime In 2017, a man allegedly trafficked two young girls and exposed them to sexual acts. In 2021, police arrested Anthony Patterson for the crime.
Evidence The evidence items included one of the girls leggings, shirt, and underwear.
DNA The Texas Department of Forensic Science and a private DNA lab developed DNA data from the clothing items.
Match Both labs concluded that most of the evidence data were uninterpretable due to insufficient data or complex mixtures.
TrueAllele On the same data, TrueAllele statistically excluded Anthony Patterson from the clothing items with match statistics ranging from one over 1.55 thousand to one over 76.7 quintillion.
Cybergenetics    On November 12, 2024, Cybergenetics analyst Jennifer Bracamontes testified before a Tarrant County jury about the TrueAllele DNA results.
Outcome On November 19, 2024, the jury found Mr. Patterson guilty of human trafficking, indecency with a child, and sexual performance on a child. The same jury sentenced him to 33 years in prison the next day.
