New FBI SWGDAM guidelines allow probabilistic genotype DNA mixture interpretation - Cybergenetics TrueAllele complies with standard

Fredericksburg, VA

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Scientific Working Group on DNA Analysis Methods (SWGDAM) approved new guidelines for the interpretation of DNA mixture evidence that recognized the importance of stochastic variation in DNA evidence data. For human review, "stochastic thresholds" were introduced that reduced the chance of a misidentification, but discarded considerable identification information. For computer review (Section 3.2.2), validated "probabilistic genotype" systems that model data variation were allowed. Cybergenetics TrueAllele® is a validated computer system that infers probabilistic genotypes and models stochastic variation, hence fully complies with the revised FBI SWGDAM guidelines.
