Abstract

DNA is a powerful evidentiary tool that links people to crimes. But DNA can also exclude a suspect. Most interpretation methods cannot assign exclusionary statistical weight to DNA evidence. TrueAllele® computer interpretation is able to calculate the extent of exclusion, which has led to exonerations, acquittals, and dropped charges. This talk describes exculpatory DNA statistics, and how exclusionary TrueAllele results have helped defendants in criminal cases.
